Dear Participant;

            I have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the 1st International Midwifery Training and Research Development Congress organized by the Association  of Education and Research Development in Midwifery (AERDM) in cooperation with Ege University Health Sciences Faculty Midwifery Department between November 07, 2018 and November 09, 2018 in İzmir.

            AERDM is a professional non-governmental organization established in 2014 with the aim of improving the quality of midwifery education, carrying out research on the midwifery profession and developing the profession scientifically by supporting the research performed in the field. Among the activities of the association are organizing scientific meetings, obtaining documents based on available information, creating publications, collaborating with national and international organizations in addition to conducting research on education and training.      

Although midwifery is a profession whose history is old as the history of mankind, in our country, Turkey, midwifery education at the undergraduate level started only in 1996. The main theme of the Congress is "Midwifery Education". Our aim to organize the congress is to evaluate the point midwifery education has reached, and to discuss what can be done to strengthen midwifery education.

            The scientific program of the congress will be supported by conferences and panels including speakers invited from local and foreign institutions and organizations who are experts in their fields. The congress is expected to create an opportunity to discuss training models in midwifery, the content of the training programs and innovation in education in addition to the subjects such as competence in midwifery, use of technology in education, simulation, mentoring etc. In addition, the program will include a period of time called "Time to Exchange Views" in which knowledge and opinions will be shared with the invited expert speakers.

            I would like to welcome you, valuable participants who support the midwifery education, in Izmir called “pearl of the Aegean” and to thank you in advance for your contribution and participation in the Congress.
